Update file mid project in Studio 2019

I am trying to do a mid project amend using the new update file feature in Trados Studio 2019 to a file that is currently out with 16 translators. When I try and update the file in the original language option I get an error that tells me that I do not have permission to check out one or more of the selected files in their current phase. And although I have administrator privileges, I am unable to assign myself to phases on the original language.

When I try and update the file from within one of the language windows that we are translating to, it goes through the process but I get an error message that says that the bilingual reference file could not be located for all languages.

Any ideas as to how I resolve these errors?
Or am I misunderstanding how I complete this process?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi

No worries, please find it below:

    0. First please make sure that all files are checked back in.
    1. Then please ensure that the translation memories attached to the project are updated with the content of the files translated so far. If you not quite sure that they are, please perform a TM update, as a sanity-check (from under Batch tasks - 'Update Main Translation Memories', so all languages are updated together).
    2. Once it's done, please go to a target language, right-click on the target file you would like to update, and perform the mid-project update by selecting 'Update file'.

Thus you should be able to perform the update on all target files at once, even if you have clicked on and updated only one target file in Studio - it will do the update on all your target files in parallel.

Please let me know in case you have any questions.
Hoping to hear back from you.

    Best wishes,
    Greta
