Is this your private computer or a company administrated PC?
The reason I ask is because what you describe is most probably due to the fact that your logged-in user does not have sufficient rights. Once you have gone through the first startup screens, Studio writes entries to the registry and updates some files, so it knows you have already gone through this. If it does not, it means that these entries/files could not be properly written.
Are you the only user on this PC or do you have more than one account? Do you log in with the same user that was used to install Studio?
Please launch Studio with administrator rights and see whether this solves your problem.

Thank you very much, Walter,

I am the only user and it is my own personal SDL TRADOS account. Nobody else touches this computer nor do they use TRADOS.

I assume I am always running the program as an administrator. I have never changed the way I run or open it. I am at a loss.

By the way, every time I open the program the SDL Cloud window pops up advising me that I have xx free days left...

Hi Susana,

I think Walter is correct here.  Most likely you don't have sufficient rights for the program to run.  Perhaps try reinstalling but this time when you do it make sure you right-click on the exe file and select "run as administrator".  If it still doesn't behave try running Studio as admin when you start it.  You can do that by right-clicking on the icon and select "run as administrator"

Hi Susana,

It sounds as though you just don't have admin rights set up in windows so unless you specifically request the program to be run this way it's unable to write files to the appropriate location, and this includes your setup files which is why you kept being nagged.

Hello!

I have the same problem with Studio 2019. My computer did some weird things and I think the system updated, and now I keep getting the Trados Setup wizard when I open the program. More problematic is that all my projects, TMs, and termbases disappeared. Also, when I try to open projects from my saved documents, an error message tells me that Trados cannot recognize the file type.

I will try opening the program as Administrator and see if that helps - but I didn't fully understand from the previous thread, is there a way to get back my projects/TMs/termbases?

Hi Frances Pope 

You haven't lost all your projects/TMs/termbases. They will be on your system still. Unless you've changed the place that these items are stored from that which Studio would use automatically then they should be easy to find.

C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\Studio 2019\Projects

C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\Studio 2019\Translation Memories
and/or
C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\Studio 2019\Upgrade Translation Memories

C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\Studio 2019\Termbases

You can navigate to these places on your system from within Studio.

Regarding the setup wizard starting when you open the program, maybe a Windows Repair on Studio will help...

1. Close all SDL applications.
2. Open the Control Panel:
   • Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
   • Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
   • Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features
   • - or type 'Control Panel' in the search line on your bottom Windows toolbar.
3. Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR2) and click 'Repair' or 'Uninstall/Change' (then Yes then Repair) either on the top toolbar or on the right-click dropdown menu.
4. Restart Studio.
