Could you please confirm that the Term Recognition tab is the one selected (blue font)?

Does the target term appear here? If so, you can insert it right clicking and selecting Insert term translation from the pop-up menu:

If the target term is not suggested autommatically in the Editor after writing the first letters of the target term, then confirm you have this checkbox ticked in Options > AutoSuggest:

If everything seems ok, try Reorganizing your glossary in MultiTerm.

1) The target term recognition is the one selected.

2) The respective target terms are filled in / translated. Thank you at this point also for showing that you can directly insert the target term from the pop-up menu.

3) The target term is suggested automatically after typing the first letters of the target term. But that is exactly my point of critique. To my extent, it would be more helpful if the target term (in complete) was suggested automatically (not only after typing the first letters of the target term), as, very often, I do not remember the respective target term. So it is more time-consuming to look up the entries in my Multiterm database and inserting it from there than if the target term was suggested automatically in complete. I hope you know what I mean.

Although there are some MT engines handling terminology, in general I wouldn’t know how to do this. Where would the target term be inserted? What if there are several terms? For me it makes sense as it is right now. Anyway, you can post your idea here:community.rws.com/.../trados-studio so other peers can vote and RWS may have a look.

Of course, it always depends on the translation itself and the type of text to translate. Using the NMT option, Trados could simply replace the NMT target term by the respective Multiterm target term (that you created yourself and that has more importance of course, as you created it yourself instead of the NMT translation). In my case, I translate very specific technical texts and in 99% of the cases, one source term equals one target term (so I very rarely have different target terms to one source term.) This may be, however, the case for other translations where it depends very much on the context in which a certain target term needs to be chosen. Nevertheless, I would find it necessary to have the option that both source and target term are recognised and auto-suggested (in complete).

I forgot that there is another way to insert terms in Target: press the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+L to show you all translated terms available for the active segment, so you can pick one of them:

Concerning your request, Christin Fries , if you want the target term to be inserted into your translation, you should consider a customizable MT. I trialled Language Weaver for a year, and it's really a no-hassle solution: You upload your TMs (if you wish to do so), so that the TM adopts your style and then you upload your glossary, and LW will insert your target terms into the translation. It really does work well and is very simple to set up. Microsoft Translator also offers dictionaries (and TM uploading) but is significantly more work to set up and maintain. (Similar with Google. Google will use your data to train their machine and it's a real nightmare to set up. The quality is good, but the initial setup is really horrible and I don't like it that that they don't offer a pricing tier at which they won't use your data. Not my choice.)

Using Language Weaver Adaptive (it's a paid service, not the LW that's free with Trados Studio) you pull a list of source and target terms from your termbase and upload it in LW. That's it. I'm sure there are other solutions, too, but this one works seamlessly.
