"Unable to find specified file" message when I try to add a termbase

Hello,

I just installed the trial version of Studio on a virtual machine. I have a license but I haven't activated on this device yet since I am still finishing off work on my old computer. When I try to add a file based TM to the trial version, I am getting the message, "Unable to find specified file." I tried moving the file to different locations but no joy. Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Hello,

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with adding a file-based Translation Memory (TM) to your Trados Studio. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Ensure that the file you're trying to add is not open in any other application. If it is, close the other application and try adding the file again.

Step 2: Check if the file is located in a folder where files are not blocked. If it is in a blocked folder, move it to a different location and try adding it again.

Step 3: Run Trados Studio as an Administrator. To do this, right-click on the Trados Studio icon and select 'Run as administrator'. Then, try adding the file again.

Step 4: If the issue persists, it might be due to the fact that you're using a trial version of Trados Studio. Some features might not be available in the trial version. Consider activating your license on the new device to access all features.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
