'Already Contains a Source File' Message After Deletion & wanting to add it back

At times, I encounter an issue where the file cannot be opened in Trados (unable to open).

So I will remove the file and then re-add it. However, during this process, Trados consistently displays the message "already contains a source file."

And in order to add it back I would need to change the file name, which is implausible for returning the client's target file.

Is this a known issue or it never bothered anyone?

  • Hello,

I understand your concern about the "already contains a source file" message in Trados Studio. This issue can occur if the file you're trying to add is already present in the project. Here's how you can resolve this:

Step 1: Open your project in Trados Studio.

Step 2: Switch to the 'Files' view.

Step 3: In the 'Files' view, switch to the source language view. This will display all the source files in your project.

Step 4: Look for the file you're trying to add. If it's already present, you'll need to remove it first.

Step 5: To remove the file, right-click on it and select 'Remove'. This will only remove the file from the project, not from your computer.

Step 6: After removing the file, try adding it back to the project.

Please note that you should not have to change the file name to re-add it to the project. If you're still encountering issues after following these steps, it might be a good idea to check for updates within the application, as this could be a bug that's been fixed in a more recent version of Trados Studio.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
