The content of a project TM is meant to be relevant to the content in your project.  So it's based on the search settings you use for matching.  You use 70% and you'll get TUs in the Project TM that are 70% and above.  Use a lower number and you'll get more.

In this case I suggest you just add the full TM and don't use a Project TM.  I doubt you'll ever be able to get the full TM since the lowest value possible is 30%.

One more comment regarding adding the full TM.

As we are working with Groupshare, providing the full TM to a project means, that we have to make a separate TMX export (for each language) and our translation partners need to make an import into a local TM. A lot of extra work, which could be automatically done, when this option was provided when creating a Studio project.

Why is there a lower limit of 30%? Would it be possible to give the full range down to 0% as an option to the user?

For us it would be helpful. We like to work with Groupshare, but sometimes we need to provide the full TM as a project TM, especially for areas with a slow Internet.

Why don't you provide access to the TM on GroupShare as a read only?  If it's just because of the slow access thing then I'm afraid you'll need your workaround.  Although I reckon you may be able to automate that with a command line script using the API.  So no need for it to be a hardship.

Probably just a tried and test limit over the years based on what made sense.  It does seem illogical to have down to zero as the noise would be useless to distracting.  In fact why do you need to provide a full TM if the results from it are going to be so poor?

Maybe Daniel Brockmann has a better answer to that?

Hi Johannes
If you like to display TUs from your GS TM but not to share the GS TM itself, you could pretranslate the file(s) using the GS TM.

When receiving the translation back, perform the Update Main TM or Finalize Batch Task and you'll add all the new TUs to your GS TM.

we generally provide the link and read-only access to our Groupshare TMs in each Studio project we assign to our translators.

The issue is, that we have experienced, that translators do not use the link, when there Internet is too slow or maybe not available. It depends, where the translator is located.

Exactly that's why we would like to avoid the hardship of making single TM exports, a command line script would be helpful. Where do I find somebody who can write that?

We have lowered the match rate down to 30%, but still noticed, that not all necessary segments are included, e.g. for concordance search of terminology. For that part, we would need access to the full TM. Well, we could included all this terminology to a termbase, but there are too many terms and they are not used regularly, so placing them into a termbase would just unnecessarily increase the termbase (and is a lot of work).

Maybe Daniel ist reading this and has an answer to it.

thanks for your thoughts and your help.

That definitely would be a way of doing it, but with pretranslation, the match rate would also show just a minimum of 30% match values.

And if a file is pre-translated, translators tend to look less carefully at the target text, especiall if it is a high match rate (also one of our experiences).
