How to run my Trados project through Language Weaver?

Hello everyone, this is my first post here.

So what I'm trying to achieve is machine-translate files in a Trados Studio project. I was hoping for some simple right-click option (i.e. through Batch Tasks), but to no avail. So, is there an easy way to do it, or does it require some hassle?

I'm using Trados Studio 2019 Freelance 15.2.8.3007.

  • Hello,

I understand you're looking to use Language Weaver for machine translation in your Trados Studio project. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

Step 1: Open your Trados Studio 2019 Freelance.

Step 2: Go to the "Project Settings" of the project you're working on.

Step 3: Navigate to the "Language Pairs" section, then "All Language Pairs", and finally "Translation Memory and Automated Translation".

Step 4: In the "Automated Translation" section, select "Language Weaver" from the dropdown menu.

Step 5: Click "OK" to save your settings.

Now, when you open a document in the Editor view, Trados Studio will automatically use Language Weaver to provide machine translation suggestions.

Please note that you need to have an active Language Weaver subscription to use this feature. If you don't have one, you can purchase it from the RWS website.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

I apologize for the confusion. If you're not seeing the "Language Weaver" option in the dropdown menu, it's possible that you're not logged into your RWS Cloud account. Here's how you can set it up:

Step 1: Log in to RWS Cloud with your RWS ID from the top right corner in Trados Studio 2019. Your credentials will be stored and automatically signed in when starting Trados Studio.

Step 2: On the project you are working on, go to Project Settings and in the Translation Memory and Automated Translation menu choose Use: Cloud-based resources...

Step 3: In the Cloud-based Resources window, the Machine Translation option will be selected by default and also the model needed for the Language Pair of the project you are working on.

    Step 4: Click Save.

Now, you should be able to see the "Language Weaver" option in the "Automated Translation" section. If you still encounter issues, please let me know.
