Words in term base not recognized

Hi,

since updating Trados a month or so ago (latest updates), my term base recognition is not working again.

This seems to happen repeatedly after updating the software.

The last time it happend, the solution offered by AI was to reorganize my termbase and this worked.

Unfortunately it hasn't this time.
I rely heavily on my TM and this is getting to become a real nuisance, to the extent that I dread having to do an update!

Any ideas what I can do this time?

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Helen,

I understand your concern about the term base recognition issue after updating Trados Studio. It can indeed be frustrating when you rely heavily on your Translation Memory (TM). Let's try a few steps to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Check if your term base is correctly linked to your project. You can do this by going to the 'Project Settings' and then to the 'Language Pairs' and 'All Language Pairs' tabs. Under 'Terminology', ensure that your term base is listed.

Step 2: If your term base is correctly linked and still not recognized, try creating a new project with the same files and term base to see if the issue persists.

Step 3: If the problem continues, you might want to consider creating a new term base and importing your entries into it. This can sometimes resolve issues that are not fixed by reorganizing the term base.

Step 4: Ensure that the terms in your term base match the source text exactly. Trados Studio will not recognize terms if there are any discrepancies, such as additional spaces or different punctuation.

Step 5: If none of the above steps work, you might want to consider reinstalling Trados Studio. Sometimes, certain issues can be resolved by a fresh installation.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. Please remember to always back up your work before making any significant changes to your software or projects.

    Best regards,

  • This sounds like a "divide and conquer" approach to find why a project crashes Studio at a certain point in a project.
