Saving each word in a different TB

Hello,

I am a new freelance translator and am still getting familiar with Trados. So I have many questions, and I will appreciate your assistance.:)

Currently, I have a query regarding TBs. If I have set up multiple TBs, and while translating, I want to save a term to a TB other than the default one at the top. Is there a way to save terms to a different TB individually?

Trados Studio project settings window showing two term bases listed, with the first one marked as default and a red circle highlighting the number '2 tb'.

Thanks & have a good day~

Jin.

  • Hello Jin,

Absolutely, you can save terms to a different termbase (TB) individually in Trados Studio. Here's how you can do it:

Step 1: Open the document you are translating in the Editor view.

Step 2: Highlight the term you want to add to the termbase.

Step 3: Click on the "Add New Term" button or press the shortcut key (Ctrl + F2).

Step 4: In the "Add New Term" dialog box, you will see a dropdown menu at the top where you can select the termbase you want to add the term to.

Step 5: After selecting the desired termbase, fill in the details for the term.

Step 6: Click on "Add" to save the term to the selected termbase.

Remember, the termbase you select in the "Add New Term" dialog box is where the term will be saved, regardless of which termbase is set as the default.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
