Studio immensly slow + Upgrade TM fails

Hi all of you,

We (team of 5) are currently experiencing some difficulties with Studio 2019.

We are sharing file-based TMs on a common directory, but confirmation of segments and subsequent look-up is immensely slow (2 minutes to go to a next segment).

A red triangle in the TMs name says that the TM must be upgraded. When trying to upgrade the TM, the process is interrupted halfway.

Trados Studio Upgrade Translation Memory window showing a process interrupted with a message 'The translation memory data file engine returned an error: database is locked'.

Someone got an idea ?

Thank you in advance !

  • The problem is where the TM is stored. Store it locally on a SSD or a PCIe SSD (much faster) and your problems will be gone.

What you are doing, is like would you try to move your furniture to a new home with an Austin Morris Mini. Studio Freelance and even Pro does NOT like resources shared on the cloud. Even TMs shared on a NAS are not working really well. This is why I keep all my master TMs on a PCIe SSD and put only project TMs with the projects to be shared on NAS. This works somehow... For TBs this is however too slow.
