Hi,
For one of my cliensts I have to use MemoQ. But one thing is very annoying: MemoQ assumes it comes first, ie all icons are replaced and it is tried to open projects in MemoQ. I do not know how to get rid of this. So once I have finished a translation I uninstall MemoQ and reinstall it the next time. Very annoying! Does anyone among you has similar problems and can suggest a solution? Today I will also write to MemoQ Support.

Run a repair installation of Studio. MemoQ does indeed try to "rule" all translatable files. However, if you do not double-click the files, but use the commands from within Studio, no such problems occur. Double-clicking is not a best option.

To be precise, the application installed as last "overtakes" the associations. Not MemoQ as such.
Just so that people don't tend to make wrong conclusions that "MemoQ overtakes the associations"...
Nearly... In case of MemoQ it is indeed an "overtake" - even though I've installed Studio and Trados 2007 AFTER MemoQ, MQ still claims to be the "only one" to open TMX or TTX files...
I know how to change this associations, but I can understand people being mislead by that.

Thank you for your answers which are very helpful. I didn't realize that the last application installed "takes command", so to speak. I will now reinstall MemoQ and after that run the repair installation of Studio. I wonder what will happen then in view of what you, Jerzy, wrote. I also hope I will somehow get rid of the omnipresent MemoQ icons which are quite confusing.

Hmmmm... and does Studio or Trados 2007 actually associate TMX and TTX extensions? i.e. are these associated with Studio/T2007 when ONLY Studio or Trados 2007 are installed?
I'm not quite sure about TMX... as to my best knowledge there is no direct action associated with "opening a TMX" in Studio or Trados 2007... in other words: what would "opening" a TMX mean?
You can simply right click the corresponding file, say "Open with" (Öffnen mit), then say "Chose another app" (Andere App auswählen), chose the proper application from the list and tick the box "Always use this app..." (Immer diese App zum Öffnen...):
This should change the behavior in the desired way. Otherwise you also can change the standard apps via Windows settings.
