Studio 2019 user interface freezes when confirming translated segments using shortcut keys

I have been facing an annoying problem when using Trados Studio 2019:

When reviewing translated segments and I want to confirm the approved segments, it is convenient to use the (default) shortcut key combination (CTRL+ALT+ENTER).  This problem has existed since the intial version of Studio 2019 but the situation is somewhat impoved in the latest SR version (SR2 - 15.2.0.1041).

When confirming the first of the segments to be confirmed, it often takes a long time (30 - 60 secs) before the confirmation of this segment is completed. After a number of confirmations (this has improved since the initial version), the user interface freezes and after waiting (as patiently as I can with an approaching delivery deadline!), I then close the application (right click in the tool bar icon). Fortunately, it is only the user interface that freezes (apparently) as it immediately asks whether I wish to save the file - which, of course, I do (since I don't want to have to repeat my work). This then repeats - long time for first confirmation, confirmation of a number of segements, freezing of user interface.

Thankfully, I still have Studio 2017 installed (and updated) and I frequently use this version, which functions perfectly - without the above-mentioned irritating fault.

Am I alone in experiencing these problems with Studio 2019? Is it a bug? Or is there some 'fix' to solve the problem?

Any advice would be welcome as it is a source of increasing dissatisfaction with an otherwise very good product.

Regards, Michael

  • Further to my last posting re. the MM plugin, I have now completed the following tests using a previously completed translation where I have changed the status of the 1st 100 TU's from 'confirmed' to 'draft' after which, I then proceeded to confirm the individual TUs using the shortcut keys (CTRL+ALT+ENTER - the default with my version of Studio 2019 :

    1. With the MM plugin deactivated

    2. With the MM plugin activated, but not added to the TM's for the project

    3. With MM plugin activated and added to the TM's for the project but not selected

    4. with the MM plugin activated, adeed to the TM's for the project and selected.

In all 4 cases, the result was identical: I was able to confirm the 1st 80 TUs without a hitch, but when I tried to confirm TU No. 81, the user interface locked up. I could see (using Process Explorer - a more advanced replacement for the Task Manager) that the underlying application was still functioning, which confirmed my earlier impression that it is only the UI that freezes, not the underlying application.
