Hi, Thanks for your help. Matteo Rozzarin also suggested I use a specific filter settings file but I can't seem to instruct SDL Studio to use this file with the "enable embedded content processing" when I create the project; it goes back to the default settings file which leaves all the code inside the files. Is there something I'm missing?

Perhaps you are using project templates and have not got this setup to use the embedded content processor?  If you are then you need to make sure you configure the filetype in your templates too.

you can make the changes in the project, delete the source file and add the file again. This will make Studio use these settings to the file. This is not the normal way, but since you seem to have created the project already..

Thanks, I was indeed using a template, but now I've succeeded to configure the filetype there as well, so I'm good to go; the only doubt remaining is whether the clean xliff file in the target language will be ok for my client to re-import into WPML now that there's none of the code left....

Anne Prestwich the code is "gone but not forgotten".  It'll be in the target file.
