I can't open packages from Studio 2017 any longer

Question

I originally bought Studio 2014 and updated to 2017 at the beginning of the year. 
 Today I desinstalled 2014 that I haven't used since, but now when I try to open a package in Studio 2017, it's not able to. The packages are there in the folder but Studio doesn't seem to see them as packages and isn't able to open them. 
 Do you know if it's possible that 2017 was somehow relying on the installation of 2014? 
 WHat can I do to sort it out?

Hello Diana Llorente Garijo 
 All installs of Studio are independent of each other- by this I mean each version is a standalone install and not an 'upgrade' of the previous version. 
 Therefore, could you post a screen shot of what you are actually seeing in Studio when you browse to the project folder(s) and attempt to open them please, so we can visualise what is happening. 
 You can post screen shots simply by going to advanced editing options at the bottom of the screen and then

 Uninstalling an older version can sometimes affect the performance of an existing newer version of a program. 
 You should be able to reset anything that could have been affected by uninstalling 2014, if you run a Windows Repair on Studio. 
 To run a Windows Repair of Studio and/or MultiTerm, via Control Panel... 
 
 Close all SDL applications. 
 
 Open the Control Panel: 
 Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. 
 Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program. 
 Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features. 
 
 Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1/SDL MultiTerm SR1 Desktop) and click Repair. 
 
 Restart Studio/MultiTerm. 
 
 I actually repair all components of MultiTerm then Studio, periodically. It's worth the time it takes, especially after a Windows automatic update. 
 The same goes for other complex software, Microsoft Office for example. 
 
 I hope this is enough to restore 2017's functionality.

 Let's hope it works, I believe it will. 
 In the meantime, the screenshot you posted (well done) shows that the icon for the package is a blank white one. This means it isn't associated to any program. 
 If the Windows Repair of Studio doesn't work, then try the following: 
 The 'Open with' setting in Windows can be reapplied to the correct program, in this case SDL Trados Studio 2017, quite easily via Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Choose default applications by file type. ( If you don't know how to find the Windows Settings, t ype 'Settings' in the 'Type here to search' line by your Windows button bottom left of your screen and the Windows Settings will appear at the top of the pop up list.) 
 I'm pretty sure one of these methods will resolve your problem. Let us know either way so that, if it works, others can search on the Community and find this solution. If it doesn't, let us know so one of us can help you further.
