translating a balance sheet

Dear all,

can you help me in finding an efficient  way to translate a PDF reporting a 50 page balance sheet? Text is not a problem, but how can I manage all those numbers, columns, items in parentheses, negative numbers? I tried with the first 3 pages, but once I have finalized the file the formatting was such a problem that I had to erase the whole work and retype everything from scratch inserting tables. What would you suggest?

Shall I write numbers manually. How can Trados help in this situation? TKS

  • Dear Paul,
numbers were reported in the correct format in terms of commas, decimals, etc. And I was very glad not to have to retype numbers while using Trados.
The problem was the position and the management of columns in the file of destination. Numbers were distributed all over the page. I tried to recreate columns as in the original in order to copy and paste numbers in a new table, but it was not possible to do it in such a way that text lines corresponded to the relativing numbers. I can upload a page, if it is of any help. But I can see the button to upload files here.

Anyhow, let's start from scratch. What would you do if you had to translate a 50 page PDF with these features? Can I exclude numbers and translate only the text? Is there a specific function in Trados that recreate the table inserting numbers in the correct position?
