SDL.Community.SDLPLuginInstaller has stopped working

Question

I recently upgraded from Trados 2017 to Trados 2019 Freelance and now I want to download apps from the appstore. I get the above error which was addressed last year but the instructions do not apply to 2019 because my folders and files are not listed the same as in the previous example. I used the default installation process. Please assist. FYI I am not a computer programmer/genius. SDL plugin installer error.docx

Hi Michelle Washington 
 
I would recommend you run a repair installation on Studio and make sure you are not trying to install the plugin installer that was released a long time ago as this is out of date. The plugin installer is part of Studio so there is no need to install anything else.

If that doesn't help then copy the plugin you downloaded to this folder: 
 
C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\Plugins\Packages -> for SDL Trados Studio 2019

This problem may be coming from leftover registry keys created from previous installations. It might be worth using the Registry Editor and go to this key: 
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SDL\ 
 
The Studio15 folder corresponds to Studio 2019, Studio5 to Studio 2017, Studio4 to 2015 and anything below that relates to older installations of SDL Trados Studio. If you no longer have any of these versions installed then please delete the leftover registry entries (Studio2, Studio3, etc). Do not delete Studio15.
