Source text (from .docx) is missing in sdlxliff

Hello,

I recently encountered a strange problem in Studio 2017 - some parts of the source text are missing in the sdxliff, they are only visible after I change the filter from All segments to All content. However, they aren't assigned a segment number and not included in the analysis.

This text is not hidden in the source docx. file, so that is not the problem.

I tried to analyse the text in other CAT tools and there was no problem, these sentences are only missing in Trados.

What could be the cause of this and how to prevent it?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

  • Hi

Just to close this one off. The problem is a bug in the Studio 2015 WordprocessingML v2 filetype. I can't reproduce this with the current version of Studio.

    The solutions were:

    - use the older DOCX filetype when preparing the project
    - downsave the source to a DOC or an RTF if appropriate
    - upgrade to the current supported version of the software

    Thanks for sending the file!

  • Hi Paul,

I am using Studio 2019 and had the same issue with a few word documents (some sections of the source file is missing ONLY in Trados and visible not translated in the target, the content is only visible in Trados using View/All Content). The same issue happens even after converting the .docx source file into an RTF. The sentences at issue do not contain any particular styles and don't always contain a footnote. It is not hidden text either. We have tried playing with all options offered in Trados settings (Word 2016 properties) but nothing seems to solve the issue. As you can imagine this is a huge problem for me as a translator because I can never be sure that I am translating the whole document. Using the All Content view is not an option for the kind of documents and volume I am confronted with. Could you please help me out? Thanks in advance!
