Studio 2014

I have read the discussions concerning following subject:

Problem with WordprocessingML v. 2 file type

I have Studio 2014 and I have the same problem. No way to translate let alone to send it back as part of a package.

Consequences: I did not get jobs any more from an outsourcer I used to work with because of this problem and I received a document for a test translation which could not be opened because of this issue.

Pls Note that Studio 2014 is barely 4 years old and things like this should not be allowed to happen - they should be fixed.

I totally agree with Evzen Polenka: "But the upgrade is NOT FREE, it costs a lot actually".

So my question Paul:

1 has it been fixed meanwhile (I could not find any answer to this)?

2 if Trados does not want to fix it we are being forced to upgrade. Will you offer me a free upgrade?

Any more details about WHAT EXACTLY is causing the problem? Or just this generic claim?

None.  All I can tell you is that maintaining the old filters was getting increasingly difficult so in order to cope better with new versions of DOCX in the future and handle new features and things users had been asking for in the old ones, so we completely rebuilt them.

The point of my question was that there is a series of screwed patches going on since the beginning of this year for both Windows AND Office... so it wouldn't be suprising if these incompatibilities are caused by some screwed Office update(s).
So it would be fair to thoroughly investigate the real cause and inform transparently the users instead of just using this opportunity to force users to upgrade, just to make the developers' lifes easier (and to make some 'easy money' too).

I know very well that it gets hard to maintain code 'forever'... but come one, the users are not here to make developers' life easy, it's the opposite!

And if SDL would have introduced subscription-based licensing years ago (which includes upgrades to new versions), these problems would be solved.
Anti-malware producers did it decade(s) ago, other big companies like Adobe as well...

Perhaps... how much difference financially do you think this would be compared to a support & maintenance contract which in effect does the same thing.  This is an interesting read:

How do you see this solving the problem and making it financially better Evzen?  I guess for us it would be much better!
