You do not have the required permission Error from Trados Studio using a windows user with external translator privilege

Hello dear Trados team, we are having an issue every time we want to change the phase of a project using a windows user type from Trados Studio.

provide some context: what are you trying to achieve? The user which is trying to do the change of the project phase has the external translate role and it is a windows user type which means that we do not the issue if we use a GroupShare user type.

The issue is happenning only from Trados Studio which means that the project change activity is done correctly whenever the user changes the project phase, but from the Online editor.

what have you tried already? Due the error says that "you cannot change the selected files because you do not have the required permission" we added the move any phase priivilege to the external user however the issue is still happening.

GroupShare server: GS 2020 SR1 CU08.1
Trados Studio: Trados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.6.16252

  • Dear  ,

Could you please check if the SPN was registered for the GroupShare Service Account? The article below is providing guidance on how to enable Windows Authentication for GroupShare:

    https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000003472
Please check that there is a registration for your GroupShare Service user by running the command: SETSPN -L YourDomain\YourGroupShareServiceAccount for http:/YourGroupShareServer. If it is missing, please register it by following the instructions in the article above.

Once the SPN was registered, there should not be a need to "Authenticate with a different user" when logging in to GroupShare using Windows Authentication.

If that didn't help, or if the registration was already present, a Support Case should be raised so one of our engineers will get in contact with you for further assistance.

    Best wishes,

    Radu
