I've added macros to be synchronized by xmetal via the authoring bridge. However, one of the macros uses a .NET program that includes the config file, e.g. program.exe and program.exe.config . During synchronization, XMetal reports 404 not found for the config file. Is it configurable within tridion (knowledge center)?
The solution I've come up with is to use a different name than rename the file when the macro runs, e.g. program.dat is synchronized, if the macro finds that file it renames it to program.exe.config and deletes the .dat file. Not ideal, but it works.

The restriction is on the IIS level.

You will have the same issue when trying to download the config file in a browser.
