Once you have created your project you need to activate both the subtitle preview and subtitling data options in Editor

When you create the project (not single file option), you need both the srt file and the media file - eg

Now once you have finished creating the project- Open the SDLXLIFF

You should now see the following Preview and Data tabs

If not you can open these from the View Tab

If this is not working for you, please provide some screenshots from project settings/files view and edotor.

thanks for your reply. The plug-in and the preview actually work fine on my machine. Our It is trying to do an installation that will be used to package and distribute the software and that´s where the issue occurs. Hence I will have to check with them whether your suggestions will solve the problem.  and to get the screenshot. Just to clarify we do see the preview pane and the data pane what is missing are the little buttons at the bottom of the pane with the "settings" and the "unlink" commands.

This is not actually true.  You can do this if you like, but it's not required.  Yo can add the video later if you prefer.  In fact depending on how you create the project it's preferable to add it later because of the processing time that can be added if you do it during the project creation (even though it's a reference file).

Worth checking you have the correct version of the plugins, and also what the resolution is on your screen?  Perhaps the problem is related to that?

Screenshots will be helpful though as you noted.

Thanks for your clarification.

I will try to get a screenshot, but in the current situation it is kind of hard to get an appointment with out IT support :-( so it may take a while.

We used the same installers for both Studio and the Plugin on the machine with the issue and on my machine (on which it works). The main difference between the two machines is that the one on which we have the problem has been setup from scratch with no other applications or programs installed.

I´ll get back to you when I have more info

Might be worth making sure you delete this folder if its there just in case you have done something on these machines in the past:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL Community\StudioSubtitling\

Looking at that screenshot I am suspicious of the screen resolution.  Please try using this app (you can easily undo the change it makes with the app) to "fix" the resolution for Studio.  See if this makes a difference:

Maybe one more thing to check... as it's obvious.  Please make sure you are using the new subtitle filetype for this and not the old SRT filetype that comes with Studio?  That filetype does not support the plugin at all as it's dumb to timecodes, preview etc.

If you tried to use an old template for example then you might just be attempting to create a project with a filetype that will never support this.
