problems starting out with subtitling app

Hi Paul

Firstly, thanks for great webinar/subtitling plugin demo. Looks like a really useful tool.

Following the Wiki instructions, clicking the 'Additional installed File Types exist' isn't possible as it doesn't show despite them being installed.

Also, if I open a new file to translate and click on Subtitling preview the box is blank instead of being able to upload a video link...

Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help

Miranda

  • Hi

You can't use Word for this!  The plugin actually uses the time codes for verification and making sure that you have controls over the length and number of lines in your target translation.  Give Word files could have the subtitles written in any format whatsoever we do not support this.  You need the proper subtitling file... in case SRT, webVTT, ASS, STL or SBV.

The next release of the plugin will be supporting a lot more including the ability to edit the timecodes and also work in frames.  So you need to have the proper filetype, not a copy/paste into Word.

If you send me your Word file I might be able to help you with making sure the file is in the correct subtitle format for you to use in Studio and then you can copy paste it back into Word when you're done.
