Trailing spaces bug still present in Studio 2017

Question

Hi Paul,

Are there any plans to fix the bug concerning trailing spaces in segments not being respected? I was a bit disappointed to see that nothing has changed in Studio 2017 in this respect. It's really crucial for WS projects that trailing spaces are being kept. Otherwise, auto-propagation is entirely useless.

In general, I keep wondering why a TM tool does not save the translations the way I confirm them. Isn't this the key purpose of a TM tool?

Addressing this bug in the near future would be much appreciated.

Do you have a bug reference for this? Maybe Daniel Brockmann or Patrik Mazanek will still see this and help in the meantime. I had a look through the bug database and can only find one relevant item, LTB-545, but that was already fixed in 2015 with a comment that spaces won't be saved into the TM but we should be dealing with them appropriately for AP purposes and saving target.

Thanks Stefan - that should never happen, we must fix that in the WorldServer components. I'll take this as an action. (And yes, I totally agree that if it happens, it's bad, that's why I insist it should never happen in our processing.) And thanks for the excellent workaround in the meantime!

I don't think you made a mistake. Interesting behaviour we clearly missed. In the toolkit I expected this to work but it doesn't. It won't find the spaces in strange situations. 
 
Finds lettertagspace and spacetagletter but won't find lettertagspacespace or spacespacetagletter. 
 
I'll log this with the team and we'll try and loook at this once we've finished the 2019 upgrade work we have on at the moment. At least look at it for the toolkit.
