PageMaker files in Studio. Is there a way to translate these?

Hello all,

While I completely understand that PageMaker 7.0 is an 'ancient' program today, I still have clients who are using it. Does anyone know a workaround to get this translated? We used to use PageMaker's Utilities Plug In (Trados Story Collector) to generate at TXT, which then was translated in Tag Editor. I'm trying to keep this in Studio, but I'm having difficulties getting even the TXT file to be usable in Studio.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm currently using Studio 2014 SP2 - 11.2.4435.12.

Thanks in advance, Mindy

  • That's indeed more than bad... In such case you will need to create a regex file type for the TXT files you get exported from PageMaker

Hi, Jerzy. What if I no longer have Tag Editor to create a TTX file?

If you have the TXT already then perhaps you can still handle this without TagEditor if you download the SDL Legit! app from the AppStore.  If the appropriate filetype to create the TTX is also available for you then Legit! will do the job.

    Hello again,

I'm back on this topic. In Tag Editor, it seems to use the segmentation rules defined in this filter: RegExFileFilter_1_0_0_0.xml. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can use this, to define the file settings in Studio? I'm a novice in RegEx, and I can't figure out the opening/closing patterns in the TXT file from Story Collector. For example - text for translation is bold:
