Error in SDL Trados Studio 2015 (Freelance) - "The process cannot access the file as it is being used by another process"

Hello. I have been getting an error when I try to save a bilingual file or try to open an sdlxliff from my client in SDL Trados 2015 saying "The process cannot access the file as it is being used by another process" Any kind help please?

Did you try checking your windows task manager to see what else is running that might be causing the problem. This message is usually related to attempting to work on a file that is being used elsewhere to ensure the file is properly protected. So for example, if you have a word file with thje same name that you had open in the background then saving the sdlxliff to Word with that name might cause this problem.

One possible reason for this occurring is that you have deleted the temporary files in the temp folder that Studio uses for autosave while you work. This can happen if you have some cleanup utility or even some antivirus programs that do not exclude Studio from their operations. 
 
Perhaps it's worth making sure that Studio is added to the whitelist of any programs you have running that might be the cause of this.

AV is quite often the culprit... think how often the virus definitions are updated. An update could cause it to believe Studio is a virus, has happened before and will most likely happen again! Could also be a windows update, although I think that's less likely. 
 
The temp folders used by Studio as it works are here: 
 
C:\Users\[User_Name]\AppData\Local\Temp\ 
C:\Users\[User_Name]\AppData\Local\Temp\SDLTempFileManager 
C:\Users\[User_Name]\AppData\Local\Temp\SDLTempFileRegen

The memory is read only message does suggest your antivirus or some other security software is at play. You need to allow Studio in these applications, and your only solution to the current problem is to recreate the project and pretranlsate from your TM (or use Perfect Match if you have Professional).

Try disabling your anti-virus for a short while (disconnect your internet connection if you're worried) and see whether the problem still occurs. It's often applications that run silently as processes in the background that cause this problem.
