Error after Studio 2015 SR2 update

Question

Since the SR2 update I have been unable to open Studio. 
 Error message: 
 An unexpected error has occurred while loading the global plug-in services 
 Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture (or the neutral culture) on disk. 
 basename: Sdl.LCStudioIntegration.common.plugin location info: <null> fileName: Sdl.LCStudioIntegration.common,plugin.resources 
 Please advise

I just dropped you an email with a Beta version of the hotfix we have just readied for release in the next day or two. Perhaps you could test this and let me know if it addresses your specific issue too?

Hi Pia, I dropped you an email with the fix we are testing. But I think the solution in your specific case is probably resolved by an uninstall and reinstall. This is what fixed the problem for Susan. Regards Paul

I think the best solution, as the latest versions of the software should have fixed this one, is for you both to log a support case for installation. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

I think this error message relates to needing to upgrade, and this means Studio, MultiTerm and possibly windows to the latest service pack. You should contact support and ask them to resolve this for you, especially as you need your license sorting out too now. The SQLLite message you get is probably related to using the old installer. I think your problem might be coming from leftover registry keys created from previous installations. Please use the Registry Editor and go to this key: 
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SDL\ 
 
The Studio 5 folder corresponds to Studio 2017, Studio4 to Studio 2015 and anything below that relates to older installations of SDL Trados Studio. If you no longer have those versions installed then please delete the leftover registry entries (Studio2, Studio3, etc). Then try the latest sdlplugin again please.

I am completely confused by this! How can you have Studio5 if you are not running Studio 2017? Also renaming these folders isn't going to help anything, you are just going to break something. I think you should uninstall all your Studio installs and manually delete any folders left over. Then reinstall the versions you need. 
 
So uninstall Studio from the windows control panel first and then make sure you have manually removed these locations if there is anything left:

Then reinstall Studio. At least this way you'll know you are starting afresh. None of this will lose your projects as these are all in your documents folder.
