Unable to Create New Projects – Maximum Project Limit Reached After Deleting Existing Projects

ello,

I am unable to create new projects in Trados Studio because it indicates that I have reached the maximum number of projects.

I have already deleted many old projects, but Trados still behaves as though they exist. As a result, I cannot create any new projects.

What I have already tried

  • Deleted old projects from Trados Studio.
  • Restarted Trados Studio.
  • Verified that the projects were no longer listed.
  • The problem still persists.

Fran from the Licensing Team advised me to post my issue here so it can be investigated by the Support Team.

Could you please advise:

  • Why does Trados still think I have reached the maximum number of projects?
  • Is there a way to rebuild or reset the project list?
  • Are there any files or folders that should be cleared to resolve this issue?

Please let me know if you need any additional information, screenshots, or log files.

Thank you for your assistance.

  • Hello,

It sounds like you're encountering an issue where Trados Studio is not properly recognizing the deletion of old projects, which is preventing you from creating new ones. Let me guide you through some steps to resolve this issue:

    ### Step 1: Verify the Project List in Trados Studio

    - Ensure that the projects you deleted are no longer listed in the **Projects View** of Trados Studio.

    - If they still appear, try removing them again by right-clicking on the project and selecting **Remove from List**.

    ### Step 2: Clear the Project List Cache

    - Trados Studio maintains a cache of project data, which might not have been updated correctly. To clear this:

     1. Close Trados Studio.

     2. Navigate to the following folder on your computer:

        - **Windows 10/11**: `C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\Studio [Version]\Projects`

     3. Delete or move the `Projects.xml` file to a backup location. This file stores the list of projects in Trados Studio.

     4. Restart Trados Studio. A new `Projects.xml` file will be created, and the project list will be refreshed.
