Error "failed to verify document: device not ready"

Question

I am trying to verify (QA, Tags and Terminology) a 35,000 word XML document in Trados Studio 2024 (Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.4.6694, Windows 11) and this error is shown. I switched off the various options (Tags, QA and Terminology) to determine if one of them throws this error, but verification won't work for any of them. I have never seen this error before, nor can I find it in the Trados community/forum.

 If the error persists, please try to Reset Trados to default:
