Voice recognition in Trados

Hello, I would like to use Voice recognition in Trados. I own the 2021 version and this function is not integrated. I've searched through previous post but they are too old (several years back). I woul need some updates, does Studio 2024 or 2024 has this functionality? (I've also read about Dragon via Nora Diaz's post). Thank you

  • Hello,

Voice recognition is not natively integrated into Trados Studio, including the 2021, 2022, or 2024 versions. However, you can use third-party voice recognition software, such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking, to dictate translations directly into Trados Studio. Here's how you can proceed:

    ### Step 1: Install Dragon NaturallySpeaking

    - Ensure you have the latest version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking installed on your system. Version 13 or later is recommended for better compatibility with modern operating systems like Windows 11.

    ### Step 2: Configure Dragon NaturallySpeaking

    - Open Dragon NaturallySpeaking and navigate to the settings or preferences menu.

    - Enable the option to work with other software or dictate into non-standard applications. This ensures smooth interaction with Trados Studio.

    ### Step 3: Run Both Programs as Administrator

    - To avoid compatibility issues, run both Trados Studio and Dragon NaturallySpeaking as an administrator. Right-click on their respective icons and select "Run as Administrator."

    ### Step 4: Test Dictation in Trados Studio

    - Open a translation project in Trados Studio and place your cursor in the target segment.

    - Use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to dictate your translation. The text should appear in the target
