Unable to select my target language in language pairs

Hi there,

Ever since I activated my license on another computer, I haven't been able to set up the language pair I'm working on. This generates a "the object reference is not set to an object instance" message.

I've tried to follow the following step described in the community threads:

**Step 1:** Ensure that your target language is set correctly.

- Open Trados Studio.

- Go to **File > Options > Editor > Languages**.

… but I cannot find my language in the list (the list is not complete).

Could you please help ?

Thank you!

Audrey

  • Hello Audrey,

Thank you for reaching out! It seems like you're encountering an issue with setting up your language pairs in Trados Studio after activating your license on a new computer. Let me guide you through the steps to resolve this:

    ### Step 1: Verify Installed Languages

    1. Open **Trados Studio**.

    2. Navigate to **Help > About Trados Studio**.

    3. Check the list of installed languages. If your desired target language is not listed, it means it was not included during the initial installation.

    ### Step 2: Modify Installed Languages

    1. Close Trados Studio.

    2. Open the **Trados Studio Installer** from your computer (you can find it in your Downloads folder or through your system's installed programs).

    3. Select the option to **Modify** the installation.

    4. When prompted, ensure that your desired target language is selected in the list of languages.

    5. Complete the modification process and restart Trados Studio.

    ### Step 3: Set the Default Language Pair

    1. Open Trados Studio.

    2. Go to **File > Options > Editor > Languages**.

    3. Under **Default Languages**, set your desired **Source Language** and **Target Language**.
