Upgrade window for Trados Studio 2021 Freelance > 2024 Freelance

I currently have Trados Studio 2021 and am thinking of upgrading to Trados Studio 2024 before support for Studio 2021 stops on 31 December 2024. For budgetary reasons, I would prefer to do this after 20 December. HOWEVER, I have an upcoming job in Studio that will run from 17 Dec 2024- 2 Jan 2025, and obviously I don’t want to upgrade when I’m halfway through a job. So my question is: can I make the upgrade purchase before 31 Dec 2024 and implement the upgrade after 2 Jan 2025, once my job is finished, or does the entire upgrade have to be implemented before 31 December 2024? From the FAQ page on the website, it looks like I have to deactivate my current version before I can purchase the upgrade. Is that correct, and if so, does that mean I need to upgrade before my job on 17 December commences???

    You can purchase an upgrade any time you want and process it at a later date.There is no deadline to processing the upgrade to Trados 2024.

    Also, there is no obligation to purchase an upgrade, though it's recommended. Trados 2021 won't cease working starting next year. Ending the support means that we won't test or improve Trados 2021 and also that you won't be able to use the cloud version of Trados 2021 anymore. The desktop version will continue to work.     I thought that, as of 31 December 2024, Studio 2021 would be in a retired state and there would be no upgrade path for Studio 2024 - so if I didn't upgrade before then, I'd have to buy the full version of Studio 2024 (rather than an upgrade) at a later stage. Isn't that correct? I'm happy to stick with Trados Studio 2021 for now if the only downside is loss of support and no access to the cloud version, but I don't want to lose the opportunity to upgrade if, from 2025 onwards, I would have to buy the full version of Studio 2024 instead. Can you advise?
