Maybe worth installing the latest .NET 4.x from here:

Once you've done that perhaps also do a thorough reinstall and clean up?  

Clean install... try the following.

1. Uninstall Studio
2. Uninstall MultiTerm

Now manually delete these folders if they are still there (back up your TMs, Termbases, AutoSuggest Dictionaries and Projects first in case you make a mistake):

I think that's about it for a clean install. Then reinstall and see if the application is running with less problems?

I will try your fix this weekend. Since I already set up Studio, do you think saving the settings and then uploading them after clean install is a bad idea?
Could it trigger the same situation and bring up the same warnings?
Sorry, just trying to save some time, but if I invest time for doing a clean install to then spoil everything just by recycling the settings, that would be just wasted time.

Yes, a very bad idea.  But what you could do is save them, test with the new settings that are created when you restart Studio and if this doesn't help then put the original settings back.  That isn't such a bad idea since we are only trying this option to see if it will fix your problem and help to narrow down the cause.

Hi Paul, I followed your instructions and indeed found that I still had some Studio 2017 folders on my computer. I also deleted all old plugins I could find because they were for older versions of Studio. I also uninstalled Skype app because I noticed it started to have a few problems in the same period.
After rebooting, I first reinstalled only Trados Studio (no Skype, no Multiterm Desktop) and tried opening the projects with which I had problems. Problems are still there, so I finally reinstalled also the other programs as well. For the moment, I bet I cleared a lot of the old stuff.

If there's anything else I could try, please advise.

At any rate, the two problematic projects are now closed. If still have issues with other projects, I will certainly reach out for help and in any case by next year I should get a new laptop and Win 11, maybe that will help too.
