Difficulties in recognizing the translated fragments

Hello, Lately the Trados program has been very difficult to load. It takes a period of time between 2 min and even more to recognize already translated fragments (existing in memory on the server). Colleagues from IT created a server on which all 5 colleagues works. Can you tell me the reason why it works harder? Thank you

  • Hello,

The issue you're experiencing with Trados Studio could be due to a few reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

Step 1: Check the Server Performance

The performance of the server where your translation memory is stored can significantly impact the speed of Trados Studio. If the server is slow or overloaded, it can cause delays in recognizing translated fragments. Ask your IT team to check the server's performance.

Step 2: Local Copy of Translation Memory

As suggested in the context, copying the translation memory to a local drive before performing tasks can improve performance. This is because accessing data from a local drive is usually faster than accessing it from a server.

    Step 3: Update Trados Studio

Ensure you're using the latest version of Trados Studio. Updates often include performance improvements that can speed up tasks like recognizing translated fragments.

Step 4: Maintenance of Translation Memory

Regular maintenance of your translation memory can also improve performance. This includes tasks like reorganizing the translation memory, cleaning up old or unused entries, and compressing the translation memory.

    Step 5: Network Issues

If your colleagues are also experiencing the same issue, it could be a network problem. Check your network connection and if possible, try to work on a more stable and faster network.

Remember, these are just a few potential solutions. The exact solution may vary depending on the specific circumstances of your situation.

    Best regards,
