We have a few DOC files over 100 MB each. Converting them to DOCX seems to mess with the formatting.
Is Trados 2022 better for this? Any other idea on how to solve this? The PM who is handling this project is still using Trados 2021.

Yes, S2022 is better on this, as it has a fully new developed editor.
However, such big documents may still cause some problems. So after having opened these for translation I suggest very frequent saving of the translated work.
