I have Trados Studio 2021. I have a problem with opening files with long file names. I have to cut them short, otherwise I get an error message and can't open it.. Yesterday, when I was finished translating a file, I got another error message and had to make the name shorter again. Today, I cannot open this xliff. file anymore. I get the following error message:
The path length is higher than 255 chars, so Windows operating system gets lost.
FYI, the path includes the drive + folders and subfolders + file name. I remember a peer saying that there was a Windows workaround involving editing the Windows Registry, but I never tried and it’s a bit risky. I think it’s easier if you use always less complex paths = shorter file paths.
Could you please try again after moving that XLIFF to a path with a shorter path?
