Before answering, please note the following:

- I already tried the solutions to similar issues proposed in https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000003066 and in https://gateway.sdl.com/CommunityKnowledge?articleName=00000259, but none of them worked.

- I tried restarting my computer after resetting Trados (just to try something), but problem is still unsolved.

- Last week, I could open Trados packages without any problem.

- I also have Trados Studio 2017 SR1 installed on my computer, and I do can open Trados packages with the older version of the application, so the problem is only with Trados 2022.

Any help would be most welcome!

Kind regards,

Manuel

  • Hello Manuel,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble opening a Trados package in Trados Studio 2022. It seems like you've already tried a few solutions, but they haven't worked. Let's try another approach:

Step 1: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to access the path 'C:\Users\All Users\Datos de programa'. You can do this by right-clicking on the folder, selecting 'Properties', then 'Security', and ensuring that your user account has full control.

Step 2: If the issue persists, try running Trados Studio 2022 as an administrator. You can do this by right-clicking on the Trados Studio 2022 shortcut and selecting 'Run as administrator'.

Step 3: If the problem still persists, you might want to consider reinstalling Trados Studio 2022. Before doing so, make sure to back up any important data such as Translation Memories and Term Bases.

Please note that these steps are meant to address the specific error message you're seeing, which indicates a permissions issue with the specified path. If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be due to a more complex issue that might require further investigation.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Hello,

Regarding Step 1, it's funny, but I tried to access said "C:\Users\All Users\Datos de programa", but Windows tells me that said location is unavailable and access is denied. I am the only user of my computer so I guess I am also the administrator. How can it be that I do not have access to a folder in my computer?

Any further idea would be most welcome.

    Kind regards,

    Manuel

  • Hello Manuel,

I understand your confusion. It's indeed strange that you're unable to access a folder on your own computer. This could be due to a variety of reasons, including system errors or security settings.

Here's another approach we can try:

Step 1: Open the Windows File Explorer and click on 'View'. Check the 'Hidden Items' checkbox. This will allow you to see all hidden files and folders.

Step 2: Navigate to 'C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio'. Replace 'YourUsername' with your actual username.

Step 3: Rename the 'Studio17' folder to something else, like 'Studio17_old'. This will reset Trados Studio 2022 to its default settings the next time you open it.

Step 4: Try opening Trados Studio 2022 and the package again.

Please note that resetting Trados Studio to its default settings will remove any customizations you've made, so you may want to note down any specific settings you've changed.

If the issue persists, it might be a more complex system issue that's beyond the scope of Trados Studio. In such a case, you might want to consult with a local IT specialist or the support team of your operating system.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,
