Termbase recognition fails in Trados Studio 2021

After creating, populating and reindexing a Termbase, I add it to my Trados Studio project and expect matching terms to appear in the Termbase Recognition window.

It quickly fails and no entries are displayed.

This seems to be a common error that has been widely reported in this and other forums.

Errors have been reported as being related to:

  • files being accessed as part of a cloud synching service such as DropBox or Google Drive
  • Trados "losing" the database link to its termbase
  • only applying to projects provided as a project package file
  • antivirus software disrupting the link
  • [Russian hackers / alien interference - I jest]

Termbase recognition is FUNDAMENTAL for any translator. It is an absolute necessity. So why doesn't it work??

I have read a number of workaround solutions and tried them all but, honestly, they only work for a bit and then it fails again.

This is not a ten dollar piece of software. I don't expect to have to upgrade either to get basic functionality.

When are you developers going to fix this for good? It's so flakey. MemoQ just works.
