"Unable to find specified file" | Termbase

I'm having an issue with termbases.

Last month, I installed Trados Studio 2022 (not sure of where to find the version number, sorry!) on my Mac using Parallels. Previously, I could access and use my termbases without any problems. However, now when I try to add a termbase, I receive the error message "Unable to find specified file," despite the termbase being in the correct folder and manageable through Multiterm. I'm also unable to create new termbases from Studio -- I get the same error message.

I recently got access to my university's cloud subscription and can add cloud-based termbases but not those on my computer.

Could someone help me please? Thank you in advance!

  • Hello,

I understand you're having trouble with termbases in Trados Studio 2022 on your Mac using Parallels. I'm here to help!

Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Ensure your Windows OS is up to date. You can do this by typing "Check for updates" in the Windows Search bar and selecting the option when it appears. Install any pending updates and restart your computer. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Step 2: Repair your Trados Studio and MultiTerm installations. You can do this from the Control Panel. If you're unsure how to do this, there are articles available that guide you through the process of repairing your installation of Trados Studio and MultiTerm.

Step 3: Change the folder name or file path where the termbase is saved to something simpler, without special characters, if applicable.

Step 4: If you're still having trouble, it might be worth checking the compatibility of Parallels with Trados Studio. Sometimes, virtual machines can cause issues with file paths and access.

Step 5: As a last resort, you might want to consider reinstalling Trados Studio and MultiTerm. This can often resolve any lingering issues.

Remember, you can always add cloud-based termbases as you mentioned you have access to your university's cloud subscription. This could be a good workaround while you're resolving this issue.

I hope these steps help you resolve your issue. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,

This is a known issue well discussed in this forum already.  If you're using a MAC you'll need to map the MAC network drives to windows drive letters. Then all will be well.
