Status in TM

Hello,

I would like to know if someone knows the status shown at the right end of the TMed sentenses.

Example, the "LI" status here below, I am wondering if it's already validated definitively or not.

If definitive, I will do nothing but since I found this sentence not very... I would prefer to propose another translation option.

If somebody can provide me an exhaustive list of all status, it would be so much appreciated. Thankyou.

Screenshot of Trados Studio interface showing a segment with a 'LI' status at the right end, indicating a potential issue with the translation validation.

The "LI" isn't a status.  It's document structure information which gives you some idea of where the TU was translated within the document.  So in this case LI is probably a "List Item" in a Word file.  It has no bearing on whether the segment has been verified or not.  That information would be in the middle column.  There isn't one in your case since you are showing a fuzzy match value from the Translation Results window. The verified status will be in the actual document itself and not in the Translation Results window.  For example:

Trados Studio Translation Results window showing a 79% fuzzy match with a French source segment and its English translation. A red warning icon indicates an issue with the translation.

    1. result coming from the Translation Memory and displaying in the Translation Memory Results window
    2. the same result pushed into the document I'm translating but with a pencil icon telling me this is still "Draft"

If I correct the translation and confirm it (Ctrl+Enter), and if I also go back and select the same segment, it will now look like this:

Trados Studio Translation Results window displaying a 100% match after confirming the translation. The previously red warning icon is now a green checkmark, indicating the translation is correct.

    1. the Translation Memory Results window now shows this is a 100% match because when I confirmed it this new TU was added to the memory
    2. the information in the document now shows two changes:
      1. the 79% fuzzy is now greyed telling me that it was originally a 79% fuzzy match but it was edited when confirmed, and
      2. the pencil now has a tick by it telling me it is "Translated"

Now, whether or not this could be seen as "verified" or not depends on how you work.  Studio has several statuses you can use however you choose:

Dropdown menu in Trados Studio with options to change segment status, including Not Translated, Draft, Translated, Translation Rejected, Translation Approved, Sign-off Rejected, and Signed Off.

None of these statuses make any difference whatsoever to the translation itself, they simply serve as markers to help you identify where you are in the translation process.  So if you were working with a colleague you may confirm them and every segment would have the "Translated" status.  Your colleague, working on the same file, may then use the "Translated Approved" status to help them work through the file and not miss anything and at the end you would know that "Translation Approved" was your verified translation.

Some translators will also work with a "Project Translation Memory" which Trados Studio can create for you when you create your project.  If you use that then any translations provided during the project process are saved in this Project TM and will not pollute your Main TM.  Only when you're happy at the end and everything is approved by you would you update your Main TM.  But at no time would the Translation Memory carry any sort of status related to verification. Every TU in your Translation Memory is assumed to be verified and correct, so maybe it makes sense to only put it in there when you're happy.

So it's really down to you how you choose to work... there are many options and I imagine many opinions on the best way to work.
