Pre-translate batch task does not insert TM entries resulting from file alignments

I was of the impression that I knew Trados Studio fairly well, but sometimes there are surprises...

I can't get Studio to automatically insert TM matches resulting from file alignments - is that normal functionality or did I do something odd? I can't remember having this issue before.

I am using Trados Studio 2021 SR2 - 16.2.12.9338.

  • Hello Daniel,

Based on your query and the context provided, it seems like you're experiencing an issue with the pre-translate batch task not inserting TM matches from file alignments. This could be due to the auto-localization penalty settings in your Trados Studio 2021 SR2.

    Here's a step-by-step guide to address this:

Step 1: Go to Project Settings > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation > Penalties.

Step 2: Check if the auto-localization penalty is greater than 0. If it is, this could be the reason why the TM matches are not being inserted automatically.

Step 3: If the auto-localization penalty is indeed greater than 0, you might want to consider reducing it to 0 to see if this resolves the issue.

Step 4: If the issue persists, it might be due to a known issue in Trados Studio 2021 where the auto-localization penalty is ignored when pre-translating/analyzing a file with a file-based translation memory.

Step 5: If this is the case, you might want to consider upgrading to Trados Studio 2022, where this issue has been resolved.

Please note that these steps are based on the information provided and might not fully resolve the issue if there are other factors at play. If the problem persists, you might want to consider seeking further assistance.
