"Nested segments" errors in alignment and "unexpected data" error in project creation

Hello,

I'm having an issue with the alignment and the translation of an htm file.

First, I wanted to align the English source and an old version of the German translation. The alignment does not work, I'm getting an "Nested segments - unexpected" error.

Then, I tried to create a translation project with that source files, but I'm getting an "The document cannot be processed because of unexpected data" error.

My colleague did not have any problem with the exact same English source file, she could align and translate without problems.

Do you have any idea why it's not working on my side? I've aligned and translated similar pages successfully in the past days, this is the first file I'm having issues with.

Many thanks in advance!

Trados Studio task failure notification stating 'The document cannot be processed because it contains unexpected data' with an exception type LanguagePlatformException.

  • Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the alignment and translation of your htm file in Trados Studio. The "Nested segments - unexpected" error usually occurs when there are overlapping tags in the source file. Similarly, the "The document cannot be processed because of unexpected data" error can also be due to issues with the file format or the presence of unexpected characters or tags.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve these issues:

Step 1: Check the source file for any overlapping or incorrectly placed tags. These can often cause issues with alignment and translation in Trados Studio.

Step 2: Try to open the file in a text editor to see if there are any unusual characters or formatting issues. If you find any, try to correct them and then import the file again into Trados Studio.

Step 3: If the above steps don't work, you might want to consider converting the htm file to another format, such as txt or docx, and then try to align and translate it in Trados Studio.

Step 4: If none of the above steps work, it might be a good idea to compare your settings with your colleague's, since she was able to align and translate the same file without any issues. There might be some differences in the settings that are causing the issues on your end.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issues you're facing. If you continue to experience problems, please don't hesitate to ask for further assistance.

    Best regards,
