Is there a user profile within Studio that can be used after a reset ?

Hi,

Yesterday I have had to fully reset my Studio 2021 SR 2 ( multiple crashes). As a consequence my templates/plug-ins etc. have disappeared. Is there a user profile within Studio ( similar to Firefox profile) that can be used after a reset ?

Thank you !

  • Hello,

Yes, Trados Studio does have a user profile that can be used after a reset. This profile is stored in the form of folders on your machine. When you reset Trados Studio, these folders are renamed, which effectively resets your settings to their defaults. However, the renamed folders still exist on your machine and can be used to restore your settings.

Here's how you can do it:

Step 1: Navigate to the following paths on your machine:

    - C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\Trados

    - C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Local\Trados

    - C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents

Step 2: In each of these locations, you should see a folder named "Trados Studio_old" or "Studio 2022_old". These are the folders that were renamed when you reset Trados Studio.

Step 3: To restore your settings, simply rename these folders back to their original names ("Trados Studio" or "Studio 2022").

Please note that this will restore your settings to the state they were in before the reset. If you had any issues with your settings that caused the crashes, those issues may return. If you continue to experience crashes after restoring your settings, it may be necessary to keep Trados Studio in its reset state and manually reconfigure your settings.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
