QuickPlace stopped working

Hello,

I was translating in Trados as usual when I got an error after a simple Find and Replace action. Since I am used to receiving trivial errors from Trados, I did not even read the error and resumed work. I just remember it said something about "Index out of place" or the like.

The problem is that, after a while, I tried to use QuickPlace through the shortcut I use (Ctrl+Alt+Down) to insert a tag pair and it does not work anymore! I tried several ways to fix this: changing the shortcut, restarting Trados, restarting my computer, restoring Trados to default settings (https://gateway.sdl.com/articles/SolutionArticles/000001417), repairing Trados installation (https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000001414) but to no avail Disappointed.

I ran out of ideas on how to fix this without completely uninstalling Trados and installing it again (and, TBH, I am not even sure it could work given that I already repaired the installation and this did not work). And I am sure there must be an easier way to fix such a silly bug.

Any ideas on how to fix this? If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated! Slight smile

Kind regards,

Manuel

  • Hello Manuel,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with QuickPlace. Based on your description, it seems like the issue might be related to the settings of your translation memory. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to check and adjust these settings:

    Step 1: Open Trados Studio.

Step 2: Go to the "Project Settings" menu.

Step 3: Navigate to "Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation".

Step 4: Check if your file-based or server-based translation memory is listed first. If it's not, adjust the order to make sure it is.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it might be a more complex problem that requires a deeper investigation. In such a case, I would recommend creating a backup of your settings and then resetting them to the default.

Remember, it's always a good idea to keep your software up to date. Check for updates within the application regularly to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
