tools on the toolbar are not available

Hi!

"I have recently transferred my license and installed Trados 2019 on a new PC. However, I have noticed that some of the tools are not available even though they are activated in the toolbar when I open the file that I want to translate. Additionally, the Ctrl+F3 function doesn't seem to work for finding concordance; instead, it simply increases the volume. Do you have any suggestions for me? Are there any settings I need to change? Thank you. Mariangela."

If you mean the formatting tools like bold or similar, these may not be available in certain formats due to their file structure. You will never be able to use these tools in xliff, xml and many other formats. Usually you are not expected to ADD any formatting to your translation, but should always use the formatting available in source. For example even if you see bold in source, it is NOT advisable to use the Bold command from the Trados menu, but instead to paste the formatting from the source. This may seem unimportant, but your layouter will thank you for clean and reliable work.

As for the F3 command, you should explore the settings of your keyboard, as Trados has literally no influence on your system volume. This must be something outside of Trados. And as already explained, the default concordance is F3. However, this toggles the concordance search from where called, i. e. source concordance, if called in the source text, and target concordance, when called in target. There are dedicated shortcuts for source and target concordance, which you should check in your list of keyboard shortcuts, which is available in the Home view or via File -> Options -> Keyboard Shortcuts.
