No preview for Word file available - why?

I don't work with Word files very often, so this might be a newbe question. When I worked with Word files in the past, I could always get an HTML and a Word preview. The file I am currently working with was exported from Teams and contains comments - can that break the preview functionality?

  • Hello,

The issue you're experiencing with the preview functionality in Trados Studio when working with Word files exported from Teams might be due to the presence of comments or track changes in the document. This is a known issue and a defect has been raised for this situation, with ID CRQ-30284.

Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

Step 1: Try to remove all comments and track changes from the Word document before importing it into Trados Studio. This can be done in Word by going to the "Review" tab, selecting "Next" in the "Changes" group to navigate to the first tracked change or comment, and then selecting "Accept" or "Reject" to remove the change. Repeat this process until all changes and comments have been removed.

Step 2: If the issue persists, try to save the Word document in a different format, such as .doc instead of .docx, and then import this file into Trados Studio.

Step 3: If none of the above steps work, you might have to wait for the defect to be resolved in a future update of Trados Studio.

Please note that these are just potential solutions and might not work in all cases. The definitive solution will come with the resolution of the defect.

I hope this helps and I'm sorry for any inconvenience this issue may be causing you.
