Problem with xlf

Hello,

I'm having a problem adding an xlf file to a project. I'm getting an error message that I haven't seen before and of course it's an urgent project that I need to work on this weekend. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Thanks,

Anna

Trados Studio Task Results window showing 3 warnings. First, pre-scanning failed to identify file type. Second, Xliff Version 2.0 is not supported. Third, pre-scanning error due to duplicate identifier siblings.

  • Hello Anna,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your xlf file. The error message you're seeing is likely due to some characters in the file that are not allowed. Here's how you can resolve this issue:

Step 1: Open the xlf file in a text editor. You can use any text editor, but ones like Notepad++ or Sublime Text are particularly good for this as they can handle large files and have good search functionality.

Step 2: Use the search function (usually Ctrl+F or in the 'Edit' menu) to find the character data mentioned in the error message. In this case, you're looking for ']]>'.

Step 3: Once you've found the problematic characters, you can delete them or replace them with allowed characters.

Step 4: Save the changes to the xlf file.

Step 5: Try adding the xlf file to your project again in Trados Studio.

This should resolve the issue and allow you to add the xlf file to your project. If you continue to have problems, it might be worth checking the file for any other unusual characters or formatting issues.

I hope this helps and you're able to get back to your project quickly. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,
