could somebody possibly advise me how I can send a target sdlxliff file to a client whose file I translated was in mif.sdlxliff format after opening the package?
When I exported the translation, the format I got from that was .mif, which is not asked for.

Just open the target language folder for your project and the sdlxliff you find in there is exactly what you need.
