A client has sent me a project with a lot of dashes represented as markup. When I look in the pdf, I see that it was created with Ms Word, but I find this hard to believe for a manual of 600+ pages...
Anyway, is it possible to replace all these markups with real dashes?
I’d first try to get the original Word document from your client. Working with PDFs is always a headache.
If getting the original fie is not possible, then you can use Word to open the DOCX file in the target project folder, and replace those dashes with regular hyphens. These tags are probably non-breaking hyphens; you can confirm this in Word or in Trados (use the Full Tag view instead of the ID Tag view). Then save the document and open the edited Word document in Trados.
