After Trados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.8.17821 update, my TMs do not work

Hi, this is a composite issue. There are different errors depending on what I try to do

I Updated to Trados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.8.17821. After that, my TMs starting giving all sorts of errors (could not locate object, key not found, corrupt memory, Parameter not valid). I tried updating the TMs. Then I tried creating new ones from scratch. The new ones behave exactly in the same way.

Has anyone else had this kind of issues?

I have no idea what to do. Maybe uninstall and reinstall the update. But, how can I do that?

Or should I try something else? What?

Thanks in advance.

Can you provide details of the actual errors?  Clearly there is a problem due to something on your machine.  Jerzy is correct in that this upgrade should not affect your TMs at all (other than sometimes needing to reorganise the TMs due to changes in how things are recognised)... no more than it would throughout the history of upgrading from the very first release of Trados Studio.

The actual error details may point to something you have not told us about your setup.

  • Hi, Paul

Thanks for your reply. The main error appearing is saying the parameter is not valid (in Spanish, which is my setup language. Then either the program blocks and I can 't type, or Trados switches off altogether

Then, as I explained above, depending on what I do next, I get all sorts of errors (could not locate object, key not found, corrupt memory...).

I hope that gives you information. I don't know what else I can tell apart from what I said above.

    Thanks in advance.

You could provide the actual error itself and not just give us a summary of what you can see.  Most errors represent themselves with a couple of icons in the message... one will go to a KB that might actually help you, and the other (a small disk symbol) lets you save the error details to your desktop so you can attach that to your reply.

    That's what I wanted.

On the basis of the information you have provided I can only suggest a catch all approach...

    1. Uninstall Studio
    2. Uninstall MultiTerm

Now manually delete these folders if they are still there (back up your TMs, Termbases, AutoSuggest Dictionaries and Projects first in case you make a mistake):

    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\TradosStudio2022\
    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\MultiTermDesktop2022\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2022\Project Templates\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2022\Projects\projects.xml

I think that's about it for a clean install. Then reinstall and see if the problem continues.
