The software started crashing again and again a few weeks ago, then I could not add any new project. Each time I try to create a new project or add a file to translate, the software just disappears / closes down.
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it last week, but I still have the same problem.
Could a recent Window update prevent Trados 2017 from functioning?
Has anybody an idea how I could proceed to solve this issue?

Try a reset, this sometimes helps where a reinstall fails. To do this just close Trados Studio and then rename this folder:
c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0\
to c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old\
If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:
Then restart Trados Studio and see if that helped.

Thank you for your help. I had found more or less the same information on line and tried to follow the details. Curiously I already had both folders, ie 14.0.0 and 14.0.0_old. I suppressed one of them (can't remember which one, now I still have 2 files - 14 and 14.0.0.0), shut down the computer and re-started it, and for the time being, it seems to work correctly.
Excellent. You can delete the _old folders as these won't be used at all once you restart. Good to keep it tidy and avoid collecting redundant folders/files on your machie.
